Growing up in Scarborough, Addesse fondly recalls discovering poems on his TTC rides to school. Now, he’s thrilled to bring that magic back to his beloved city, alongside his best friend.
He holds a BMath from the University of Waterloo, a BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University, and an MBA from Oxford—yet English literature has always been his favorite subject.
co-FOUNDERDr. Latif Murji
A harmonious blend of art and medicine, Dr. Latif Murji drives partnerships and oversees the curation of content at Poems in Passage. A practicing physician, lecturer at the University of Toronto, and founder of nonprofit organization Stand Up for Health, Latif’s roles are as varied as they are impactful. His creative side thrives as frontman, songwriter, and lyricist of the indie alt-rock group, Parachute Thieves. Nostalgic for his own experiences of encountering the magic of poetry on TTC during his childhood in Scarborough, Latif’s mission is to bring that same sense of inspiration and joy to a new generation.
